Brake - the road safety charity 

Brake is the charity that attempts to get through to young, new drivers that certain habits can be DEADLY
 
Break have come up with TWELVE points that every driver should adhere to:
 
  1. BELT UP - make sure you have your seatbelt on, in the back as well as in the front.
  2. SLOW UP - Keep to the speed limits, they are there for a reason.
  3. BUCK UP - Don't drive whilst stressed, angry of excited.
  4. SOBER UP - Don't drink and drive. Don't take drugs either.
  5. WISE UP - If it is night, very bright or bad weather - SLOW DOWN
  6. SHARPEN UP - If you need glasses or contacts, WEAR THEM.
  7. WAKE UP - Get plenty of rest before a journey and take regular breaks.
  8. LOOK UP - Look out for children, horse riders and cyclists.
  9. MOVE UP - Check that you head restraint is positioned correctly. It could save your life.
  10.  SHUT UP - Don't use your mobile phone when driving - even on HANDS FREE.
  11.  BACK UP - Keep space behind the car in front - dont TAILGATE.
  12.  CHECK UP - Check your brakes, tyres, lights, mirrors and windows regularly.
